Old Testament

Thank you for the question on Noah’s Ark, “Could Noah’s ark be described as a floating circus?”

Yes, one could describe Noah’s Ark as a “floating circus”, but I prefer to describe it as a Mercy Ship. It is by God’s mercy that the animals and a family of 8 humans were saved from the Flood.

The term, “floating circus” may be interpreted that it was sinking ark as some respondents ridicule the idea that it could float with all the holes in it. As one reads the Biblical text more carefully, the ship was covered with tar on the outside and inside of the Ark. Thus the Ark was water proof.

The term, “floating circus” may be interpreted that it was a “monkey of a ship” that was disorganized and stinky. The animals were running wild on the Ark causing it to unstable and smelly. The Biblical text states that the animals enter by pairs which reflected that they were organized by God. The Ark had three levels to it in which the animals were organized and penned in properly. The Ark was highly organized for the animals.

The term, “floating circus” may be interpreted that it was clumsily built and improbable to be built. The Biblical text is silent whether Noah and his family hired men to cut the tree, trimmed its logs or even help construct the Ark. With the architectural plan given to God to Noah, he knew the amount of lumber to build the Ark on the exterior and to complete the interior. The architectural plan is proportionate and structurally sound.

SUMMARY: Noah’s Ark was not a “floating circus” but a floating mercy ship for the animals and 8 individuals who entered the Ark.
