How does the coronavirus connect with Bible prophecy?

Thank you for the question on Covid-19 and Biblical prophecy, “How does the coronavirus connect with Biblical prophecy?”

I want to be careful in my answer to this question since the Bible does not say anything directly about coronavirus, but one MAY see a foreshadowing of the pestilence and diseases that will affect life on earth as depicted in the Book of Revelation.

For example in Revelation 6, the text says this, “When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth” (A searchable online Bible in over 150 versions and 50 languages). Citations are from the New International Version.

Revelation 11 says this, “They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want” (NIV).

The types of plagues or diseases are unknown whether it is some sort of sores caused by virus or by bacteria is unknown. The suffering at this time may be a precursor of a future judgment that is to fall on earth. I am not stating that the Covid-19 is a specific judgment by God since human experiment or natural evolution may have caused this particular virus to evolved. The search for a vaccine/cure will be the same in the time period of the Great Tribulation.

SUMMARY: Coronavirus may be a foreshadowing of the diseases/pestilence that might occur during the Great Tribulation.
