What do you do after a holiday celebration? Thanksgiving is over. Did you have to spend an hour or two cleaning up after your guests left or are they staying the weekend? What do you do with all the left-over food? What will you do today?
Yesterday at our Church, we had a Thanksgiving Luncheon. Originally I thought maybe 30 people or so would attend since we are a small church. I was informed that maybe 80-90 people attend! This was our first major fellowship event for the year. And yes, there were 80-90 people attending with families and singles bring their potluck dishes with three turkeys. There was plenty of food for everyone.
Did anyone thank God for this year or did everyone just sat down to enjoy a wonderful meal and to catch up with everyone? As I look back into this year, God allowed my wife and I to enjoy a trip over 6000 miles, at least it seems to me it was over 6000 miles, from Dallas to Houston, from Dallas to Florida, from Florida to Boston, across the Great Lakes, into Nashville and Branson before heading home for a day or two before driving to Houston to pick up our dog. We were gone almost for 40 days. God protect us as I drove all those miles.
It was a time for us to see old friends in Florida and in New Jersey, to stop at sites and to enjoy good food and all the sites. While it’s not my favorite thing to do, my wife enjoys shopping. It’s actually her highlight. We came home with a loaded trunk of things from flea markets and garage sales. For me, it was so nice to spend a day or two with good friends and listening to what God has been doing in their lives.
2021 will not be forgotten quickly and hopefully, our thanks to God will last longer. Don’t just move onto Black Friday Sales or into the Christmas Shopping Season. Take a moment to Thank God if you haven’t done it yet. He has bless us and we ought to thank Him. Ingratitude is not to be a characteristic of God’s people. What have you thanked God for in this year, this month, this day? Tell Him.
