Old Testament

Thank you for the question on the effects of neglecting the dietary laws of the Old Testament, “What sort of “punishment” awaits those who violate the dietary laws of the Old Testament?”

In our modern health-conscious world, we know that many of the dietary laws given to the nation of Israel was for their good. God restricted the eating of certain animals due to habitats and the food that they consume.

If one wants to stay healthy and enjoy a longer life span the dietary laws can greatly contribute to it. If one wants to have a shorter life span, then ignore it.

For example, today we know that consuming red meat is not healthy for one’s cholesterol especially eating the fatty part of the animal or the inners of an animal. “The USDA states that 3 ounces of select broiled ribeye steak contains 65 milligrams of cholesterol, while 3 ounces of choice broiled ribeye steak contains 68 milligrams of cholesterol.” Healthfully

Avoiding eating sea food like crab or lobster is better for us. It’s delicious but may not be too good for us. Eating crab, depending on what kind, can increase your risk of stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. The same serving of crab meat contains 45 milligrams of cholesterol. 6 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Crab Sticks.

Maybe there is something to avoid eating the exotic food which may have adverse harm on our body.

Thankfully today we have dietitians who suggest healthy food for us but we love our steaks, pork loin, and seafood. I know that I do.

Summary: If we wish to live longer and better, one may consider avoiding certain food or parts of an animal for one’s well-being. The FDA has helped us in regulating the food that animals eat so that we stay healthier.
