Thank you for the biblical question on the message of the Apostles in the Book of Acts, “What message was preached by the apostles in the Book of Acts?”
For your consideration, the Apostles preached that men and women are to repent and believe that Jesus is the resurrected Lord and the suffering Messiah who will return to establish the righteous Kingdom of God.
Jesus declared that the Apostles are to be his witness. Acts 1:6–11 says this, “6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”…10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven” (NIV).
This is confirmed by Peter’s statement in Acts 1, “21 Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us, 22 beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection” (NIV).
The Apostles declared that they are witnesses of the resurrection Lord and the promise of the returning of the Messiah on the Day of Pentecost. “36 Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call” (NIV).
The Apostle Paul affirms the same message of the other Apostles in I Corinthians 15, “3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[b] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born” (NIV).
SUMMARY: The Apostles proclaimed that they are witnesses of the words and works of Jesus as the Lord and Messiah that by having faith in him their sins are forgiven and will enter the Kingdom of God.
