Thank you for the biblical question on being found, “What was lost is now found in the Bible?”
The partial sentence of what was lost is now found come from the Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15. In this parable Jesus gives an illustration/story of two sons. the youngest son asks for his inheritance and went on a wild spree until all his money was gone. The son comes to his senses and decides to return home to his father.
Jesus says in Luke 15 these words, “For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” The youngest son lost his moral compass in his life and rejected the teachings of his father. The son realized that his wasteful and immoral lifestyle left him totally bankrupt. He had hit “rock bottom.” The decision by the son to return home was an admission of his foolish conduct and his repentance.
Luke 15 says this, “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”
In the story, the father is not disgusted with the son’s return but rejoices even though he spent all of divided inheritance. The son was more precious than the materialism. Thus, the son was lost and is now found. He has repented and turn to God.
God is waiting for anyone who acknowledges his or her empty lifestyle and comes empty-handed to him. He will receive any person who truly repents of their reckless and or immoral lifestyle.
