Thank you for the question on the source of a quote, “Is “search for it and you will find it” a quote from the Bible?”
In Matthew 7:7–8, Jesus says these words, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who seeks receives, the one who seeks find, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
The difficulty is not whether that quote comes from the Bible, but how one interprets or understand that statement.
In Jesus’ teaching on the Sermon of the Mount, Jesus is declaring Kingdom truths. It about advancing the Kingdom of God or living as Kingdom people. Thus, the asking, seeking, and knocking is not about getting one’s wish list from God. God is not in heaven, writing out fill forms for the ones who asks, seeks or knocks. It’s not man centered. It is God centered.
In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus teaches that God has a will and it is his desire that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The desire of the person will not be fulfilled if it is contrary to the will of God. God may or will not honor personal glorification or personal riches on earth. That is not Kingdom value or Kingdom living.
Summary: If a person seeks to glorify God, that which s/he is seeking may well be granted by the Heavenly Father.
