Thank you for the opinion question on the Apostle Paul, “Why do some people consider biblical Paul to be a fraud?”
For one’s cEponsideration, here are two reasons for rejecting Paul and the epistles attributed to him:
A. Some people believe that the Apostle Paul didn’t exist. They cite the lack of non-biblical citation of his existence.
B. Some people believe that some of the Apostle Paul’s letter are attributed to him but not written by him.
Some modern scholars are questioning or rejecting the Old Testament as non-historical. If the Old Testament is mostly a fable, then it must also mean that the Gospels and the Epistles are fable or forgeries. The discrediting of the Bible means that the Christians have no foundation for their beliefs and practices or any place in society. To them, the Bible is a myth or forgery, having no authority for faith and practice.
The Apostle Paul’s declaration on social issues run contradictory to our modern, social values. Morality is relative, not absolute. The emphasis is on personal rights over social norms or traditions based on a religious belief. It is every man or woman doing what is right in his or her own eyes.
Summary: The rejection of the Apostle Paul and his writings lead to relative beliefs and values.
