Old Testament

Thank you for the biblical question, “Jacob had two wives who were sisters, Leah and Rachel, as per Genesis 29:15-30. What was the name of their father who had Jacob work for him for a total of fourteen years to gain permission to marry both?”

Genesis 29 gives the answer to who is the father of Leah and Rachel. I cite the passage even though one has read it.

The text says this, “9 While he was still talking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherd. 10 When Jacob saw Rachel daughter of his uncle Laban, and Laban’s sheep, he went over and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle’s sheep. 11 Then Jacob kissed Rachel and began to weep aloud. 12 He had told Rachel that he was a relative of her father and a son of Rebekah. So she ran and told her father” (NIV).

The father of Leah and Rachel is Laban. To Jacob, Laban would be his uncle. Jacob has come to a near relative of his father’s household.

I do not know if there is something more to the question. If you wish to read how other people posed their question, you are free to check out my website below. No offense intended.
