Thank you for the question on theology, “What if the true God has nothing to do with any Bible ever written? Let’s face it, nobody living really knows what happens when we die.”
Let’s assume for a moment that there is a Creator God. Would it be reasonable that this Creator God would ignore or neglect the Universe and Earth? If the Creator God took time to cause this planet to have living organisms, plants and animals, even making man and woman, is it more likely that he would communicate with his creation?
When we plant a garden, there is the assumption that the gardener will take care of it by watering, fertilizing, ensuring that it fulfills his purpose for the garden. There will be some “footprint” of the gardener.
Even if the Creator God doesn’t have anything to do with the Bible, I still would think that he would communicate with his creatures. It is unreasonable that the Creator would ignore his creation.
Since God made man and woman to live with God, God didn’t place any limits on his time on earth provided that he didn’t eat forbidden fruit. If Adam and Eve didn’t eat the fruit, he would still be living today. Age or time is irrelevant since we measure it be the rising and setting of the sun. However, if the sun and moon never set from our perspective, time would be irrelevant.
Revelation 21 gives a hint of what it is like in eternity, “I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there” (NIV).
If one chooses to live a life without acknowledging the Creator God, that person has that right to make that choice. As much as one doesn’t know what is one the “other” side from a scientific viewpoint, will scientists be able to detect in the future something of the spirit or soul of the person? Perhaps there may be something to the near-death experience of people.
As the Apostle Paul says that if there is no resurrection, no eternal life, then followers of Jesus Christ are to be the most pity and bearing false witness of and to God. It’s either there is something or there isn’t anything after one’s death. The thief on the cross believed so and the other thief didn’t believe so. Each person is at a crossroad. Before one dismiss the existence of God or heaven and hell, I trust one has done their due diligence and is convinced in their own heart and mind.
Summary: One’s final decision may well decide one’s final destination.
