I was thinking about declining to answer one’s question, “In the Bible, was Samson strong enough to carry the entire Earth on his shoulders?”
Taking the question at face value, the answer is obviously, No. In order for Samson to accomplish the feat of carrying the entire earth on his shoulder, he would have to exist outside of earth to accomplish it. Samson is not God.
If the question poses the possibility or potential of Samson strong enough to carry the entire earth on his shoulder, the answer is again, No. Samson did not have the inherent strength or ability to carry the weight of the earth on his shoulder. Before his death in Judges 16, he asked God for the strength to topple the temple. Thus his own strength was limited. Samson never had the inherent ability or the power to carry the weight on his shoulder.
If the question poses the possibility or potential of Samson or any believer being able to do more than one’s own human strength and ability. Yes, but that supernatural enablement is limited by God. God gives strength to his followers to endure trials or to overcome a seemingly impossible human task by any ordinary person.
Summary: The strength that God gives to believers is to demonstrate God’s grace and strength in undergoing human suffering. It is not intended just for spectacular display.
