Thank you for your question on the Middle East, “Does the Bible say anything about their not being peace in the Middle East until Gods second coming? Does that mean that the Abraham Accords are a sign that the antichrist/second coming are getting closer?”

The Scriptures seem to imply that there will not be any lasting peace in the Middle East and in our world until the coming of Jesus Christ.

The rightful heir of Abraham has been contested between the two descendants of Abraham: Ishmael and Isaac. The Jews believe it is Isaac while the Arabs believe it is Ishmael. This has led to hostility between the two people group which became more heightened when the Jews returned to the Promised Land in 1948. Prior to that time period the Arabs have been in control of the land. The rightful heir of Abraham is contested by both people groups.

The rightful heir of Isaac has been contested between the two descendants of Isaac: Esau and Jacob. Esau was the firstborn but Esau sold his birthright to Jacob. When Jacob stole the blessings from Esau, there was a lingering hostility between the Jews and the Edomites.

A triangle of hostility between the descendants of Isaac, the descendants of Ishmael, and the descendants of Esau. When Jerusalem fell in 70 CE, the domination of Rome and the disperse of the Jews due to the Fall of Jerusalem, this left the descendants of Ishmael and Edomites in control of the Promised Land or Palestine. The Jews living in Eastern Europe began to return to the Promised Land in the 1880 due to religious persecution. The Holocaust exasperated the displaced Jews who looked for their own Promised Land in 1948.

The Scripture does not say that there will not be any peace in the Middle East, but there will be no lasting peace until the return of Jesus Christ. I recommend an excellent article, Timeline from Abraham to modern day Israel, from the website, Different Spirit, for one’s reading for a broad view of the Jews.

The Abraham Accord reflects that it is possible for temporary peace in the Middle East. With the Biden Administration, the peace accord may be modified or nullified. The rise of the Antichrist will establish “peace” for the Middle East for a period of time until he asserts himself as “god” over all of the world’s religion.

Is the Second Coming of Christ closer? With the Jews returning to the Promised Land, with archaeologists suggesting that the Western Wall is not part of the Temple but Antonia Fortress, the building of the Temple may be build alongside the Dome of the Rock. The clearer sign of the return of the Lord is that the Gospel is being preached to every people group in this world (Acts 1:8, Matt. 2818–20). That responsibility is delegated to the followers of Jesus.

To readers, I am aware of the Pre-Tribulational or Post-Tribulational Viewpoint as well as the Scriptural teaching that the Abrahamic Covenant flows through Isaac to Jacob and his 12 children being fulfilled through Jesus Christ. I also fully realize that my assertion that the Western Wall may not part of the Temple will raise questions, but I trust the readers do further study on it. See Ask A Jew: Is the Wailing Wall truly a remnant of the Second Temple? – SpokaneFāVS or by Justinian. The debate continues on the Western Wall.

Summary: There will be no lasting peace for the Middle East until the return of Jesus Christ. The Abraham Accord reflects there can be temporary peace, but not a permanent peace.
