Thank you for the question about the Bible mentioning dinosaurs, “If holy books know everything, then why doesn’t it mention anything about dinosaurs?”
As one reads the Bible, one must keep in mind that the modern terminologies that one used as dinosaurs, hurricane, tectonic shifts, Big Bang Theory, DNA/RNA, etc. is our description of things or events.
Is there any implied reference to prehistoric animals? That is debatable as some Christians believe there is an implied references to them. I am in agreement with them.
Genesis 1 says this, “ And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good” (A searchable online Bible in over 150 versions and 50 languages).
The interpretative question is what are those great sea creatures and the wild animals. The Bible does not state what those animals were but it would seem reasonable that prehistoric animals were also made along with domestic animal. I want to be careful that there are those who do and do not believe that the great sea creatures or wild animals include or do not include pre-historical animals. Again in my opinion, it implies, not state categorically of pre-historical animals.
SUMMARY: The Bible is not a scientific journal but a historical record of mankind and especially of the Jewish people.
