Thank you for the question, “Which Bible character had repented his sins?”
The most famous Bible character who repented of his sins is King David. This is found in II Samuel 11.
The sins of King David are as follows:
- Coveting another man’s wife, Bathsheba
- Committing adultery with another man’s wife even though his servant told him that she was Uriah’s wife
- Committing murder by have Uriah’s killed in battle and the death of the men around Uriah.
- Bearing false testimony to Joab that sword of battle killed indiscriminately and giving the false impression that she became pregnant after their marriage.
- Failing to keep the Sabbath holy as he knew that he was living in sin.
Psalm 51 is a record of David’s repentance before the LORD God as well as II Samuel 12 of his lust.
The other sin of King David that is recorded in the Scriptures is when he commanded Joab to number his fighting men in I Chronicle 21:1–30 in which he repented of his pride and causing his people to be killed.
Sadly most repentance is only to rid of the discipline and or suffering for one’s sin. Once the discipline is removed, the tendency of people is to return to their former way of living as recorded in the Book of Judges and in Kings. The person may not be truly sorry for their sinful actions, but sad for their pain.
SUMMARY: Repentance of turning away from one’s evil action and to turn toward the paths of righteousness.
