Thank you for the question on the Dead Sea Scroll, “What does the Dead Sea scrolls mean about the unified, most shoplifted book of all time, the Bible?”
I was pondering whether to ignore or delete this question, but I want to give the writer of this question the benefit of the doubt as to one’s motive or purpose in asking this question.
As many readers know, the Dead Sea Scrolls relate to the Old Testament Books including the Apocrypha. The descriptive phrase, most shoplifted book of all time, is mystifying to me since the Dead Sea Scrolls is not a manuscript, but individuals scrolls. In other words, as far as I know the Old and New Testament was not compiled into one manuscript or book until the 4th Century CE. I am not personally aware at this time of any earlier complete manuscript.
Are the Dead Sea Scrolls origins or copy? It is likely that the Dead Sea Scrolls are copies of an earlier scrolls that may have been worn out due to usage. Copyists made a copy of the scroll that was under their care. It is not shoplifting since the scrolls were committed to them for safekeeping and they were doing their best to preserve the written word of God. They didn’t steal the scrolls in my opinion but were given, collected as in the Qumran Community by religious leaders or wealthy patron who were able to purchase a scroll. Synagogues may not have access to all the Old Testament books while in the Jerusalem Temple and with the scribes they would have copies of the Septuagint or even the Hebrew text. The Old Testament Hebrew was translated into Greek for by the turn of the 1st century, Koine Greek was the common language with Hebrew for the Jewish people and Latin for the Roman government officials.
Don’t know if I answered the question being asked of reader, but that is the best answer that I can give unless one wants to clarify one’s question.
SUMMARY: The Dead Sea Scroll are not copyright infringements of an author for the readers believed for the most part those words are from God himself who wanted the Jewish people to be faithful to their God and his word to them.
