Thank you for the question on being right with God, “When you want to be right with God and do your spring cleaning, what would you do? Repentance, forgiveness, meditation, deliverance, prayer, break contracts, worship, and soak?”

For a Christian, it is best to keep short accounts for one’s sin with God rather than wait for a “spring cleaning” just as one wants to keep short accounts when one has offended a family member or friend. Spring cleaning is neither sincere or truthful for it is about avoiding a negative consequences rather than loving God who first loved us.

If one wants to be in proper fellowship with God, one needs to be still before God and ask the Holy Spirit to search one’s life. It is a time of inner reflection of one’s heart’s attitude and actions toward God and toward others. If one desires to walk in the light as He is the Light, then one needs to be honest and truthful with oneself, with God, and with others.s

Knowing that God is gracious and compassionate, if one confesses one sins and seeks to turn away from that sin, then one will receive forgiveness from God. The promise of I John 1:9 is a gracious gift of God toward his children. Each person knows their own weaknesses and strengths, our sinful habits that entraps that person. One can’t break the power of that sin over one’s life by his own strength, but one can overcome it by the power of the Holy Spirit.

If one waits until “spring cleaning”, whenever that may be, then in between those times, the poison of one’s life will contaminate others. It’s a virus that infects others. One’s selfish attitude and action causes bitterness in others instead of graciousness.

If there is one thing that we learn from the pandemic that if it is not treated properly and even isolated, there are negative consequences. That applies to sin in our lives as well. Don’t spread one’s sin to others.

SUMMARY: Sin is infectious and it can kill you. Only by confession of one’s sin that one experiences wholeness and peace of God and peace with God. Don’t take sin lightly since the symptoms will only get worse and its effects will worsen.
