Thank you for the question, “Is there a connection between Genesis 9:21,22 to Habakkuk 2:15?”
As one reads the context of the two passages, there are two main views. The two views are parallel-literal or literal-figurative interpretation.
I would like to suggest for one’s consideration the literal-figurative interpretation of the two passages. In Genesis 9:21–22 is a literal event in which Ham walked into his father’s tent where he sees his father’s nakedness as he laid drunk. Ham did not do anything inappropriate to his father as his other brothers were outside the tent. It appeared that they called to their and he didn’t respond to them, Ham went into his tent and saw him naked and reported that to the his brothers who walked backward to cover him.
In Habakkuk 2, the context refers to a coming judgement on a nation who will devastate Judah. Judah will be stripped bared as a nation by the Babylonian army. The Babylonian empire thought they were unconquerable with their vast army and impenetrable defenses. God declares that all the nation will see the Babylonian downfall as she is stripped of her bounties from another conquering nation. It is likely a conquering army will rape and pillage them as they had done that to so many other nations. Their drunkenness of power and pride will be stripped bear, They will be a defeated nation. According to Daniel, the Babylonians were drinking and partying on the night the invading army took over their city.
Their are some similarities between the two passages as wine were involved and both were unaware of their circumstances due to their drunkenness.
SUMMARY: Genesis 9:21–22 is a historical event while Habakkuk 2:15 is a prophetic event between a person and a nation. Wine is a common denominator that one loses control of one senses if one becomes drunk.
