Thank you for the question on the Arabic inscription on the Tower of David, “Has an Arabic inscription been found under the Tower of David?”
In reading an article which I included in this reply, there is no reason to doubt the authenticity of this finding during the Medieval Period. The relationship between Muslims, Christians, and Jews was a turbulent one over the sacred cite for all three main religions of the world.
Personally, I am very happy that the Muslims are engaged in archaeological digging that will provide greater insight during this time period. The Medieval time period has been largely forgotten or not discussed much about except for the Crusaders. There is a rich history in Jerusalem.
Having said that, I hope that whichever archaeological group discovers artifacts will be willing to preserve and dating it properly. Whether one is a Muslim, Jew or Christian archaeologist, there may be a tendency to avoid revealing artifacts that doesn’t heightened one’s religious view or may give some evidence to another religion. I hope this will not be the case for any archaeologist. In other words, we should be able to celebrate whatever finds of our past for it enriches all of us.
SUMMARY: I do wish that perhaps there would be representatives of all three religions in an archaeological dig. This will enable cooperation and verification of findings.
