Thank you for the question, “Why would I post the same scripture and get 5 different opinions?”
The primary reason is that readers are reading their theological teaching of their pastor’s or someone they admire to the interpretation of the biblical text.
To be honest, we all have our theological bias. It is challenging to set aside one’s own theological or biblical positions in coming to the text and let the text speak for itself in its context.
One should attempt to read and understand it from the writer’s perspective, seeking to understand the historical background, the purpose of the book, the content of the book, and how that passage relates to other passages in the Bible. That is not an easy task.
One ought to be opened to reading or hearing other views on the passage. It is looking at how that person explains the passage and correlates that with other Scriptures. If one disagrees with that interpretation, what is the point of disagreement and how does one disagree with it. How would one address or challenge that viewpoint and how does that person’s viewpoint challenge one’s viewpoint.
SUMMARY: Every reader has theological leanings, but one must seek to remain objective by looking at the passage from the writer’s perspective.
