Thank you for the theological question on God, “I read this article about Yahweh actually being an extraterrestrial. Could this be true or is there any truth to this?”
God is Extraterrestrial. If one is defining extraterrestrial as one not being of this planet, then God is an Extraterrestrial being. He is not from the planet earth.
It has been postulated that an alien from another advance culture from another star system came to earth to populate it. Even if there were another alien culture from a distant galaxy, traveling from their origin to earth and back to their planet would be a one-way trip. The exception is unless they have some technology that can travel faster than the speed of light or have found a way through the worm holes in our universe. As far as we know, the amount of time to travel is measure by the speed of light.
Scientist now calculate that traveling at the speed of light, it may take 200,000 years to travel across the Universe. The nearest galaxy would take 25,000 years. Is it possible that an alien came here? Yes. Is it probable? No. If the aliens were looking to start a new civilization, they would begin with something like themselves, not a primitive man. There would be no reason to do so to let “man” evolved into a higher being.
If aliens came from another galaxy, then who started that alien civilization? Ultimately, the question is asked, “Who made the Universe and put life in the Universe?” Did everything happen by accident or was by a Creator?
The Bible states that God is. God hasn’t changed and will never change. James 1 says this, “17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” He is not affected by time as we understand time for there is no past, present or future with God. God transcends time. No created or evolved being transcends time. Thus, YAHWEH can’t be an alien from another galaxy. The amount of time to find and to travel to this planet makes it not plausible.
