The Bible

Thank you for the question on the Bible, “Since God is all-powerful.. Do you think he could’ve written the Bible much more intelligently/impressively?”

The Bible is written to the people of God. Its framing must be within the context of the time and culture in which his people were living in. If God was to write it in an more “intelligently or impressively” manner, who is he trying to impress? An author can write in many different ways, but one must consider the purpose of the writing. The purpose would dictate the style of writing.

If one was to read the Torah or the Pentateuch, one would find a variety of styles of writings. There are narrative writings, descriptive writings, persuasive writings, expository writings, and creative writings. It has epistolary and prophetic writings as well. It is one of the most profound Book every written and every style.

The Bible can put you to sleep as in reading Leviticus. Though some individuals think that it is “boring”, the concepts of Law and justice is mind boggling or the construction of the Tabernacle. If one wants to read something dramatic, read the Patriarchs in Genesis or Moses and Pharoah in Exodus.

In my opinion, it is unnecessary for God to explain in detail the physics of creation or the medical procedure in making man. As man is discovering the wonder of nature, he has made the world a more dangerous place to live in. The study of nature has led to lethal weapons and destruction of life.

God has expressed his love to his people and to mankind. He has stated his purposes for his people and sadly his people wandered from his instructions. He demonstrated his patience and grace toward man. As one reads the Bible, it’s a mini-series that begins in Genesis and ends in Revelation. It has all the different styles of writing in the Bible.

Summary: The Bible is the Greatest Story Told of Man’s Redemption.
