Thank you for the question on worship during difficult times.
To be honest, my initial response is grumbling and complaining. It comes as a surprise or unexpected event. It is natural to say, “I didn’t see that coming.” or I did want that to happen.”
It is only after a few days over the “shock” of that event that I begin to think more spiritually minded than circumstances minded. I begin to think what is God trying to say to me in that circumstance. Have I been presumptuous of God’s mercy and grace? Is God trying to redirect my attention? I tend to be narrow focused on earth than on heaven things.
SUMMARY: It is usually in hindsight that I praise God for the good that he brought out of my circumstances.
