Thank you for the question on Christopher Hitchens’ video on Christianity, “Is it possible to have faith in Christianity after watching this video of Christopher Hitchens?”
I have watched the video and I am still a Christian. To be fair and balance one should watch a debate between a Christian apologists and Atheists to hear and then make one’s own conclusion about the Christian faith. I cite this website to listen to a debate with Christopher Hitchens if one still should be an atheists:
[Sorry, I could not link video-but feel free to Google it.]
It is preposterous to think that Jews or Christians would lie and fabricate a false narrative about the Bible or about Jesus. The Ten Commandments prohibits Jews and Christians to bear false witness, to lie. Thus to argue that the early Christians made up stories about the life of Jesus is not credible.
It has been argued that Josephus Flavius’ record of Jesus was amended by Christians. If one reads the “amended” record of Josephus, it is done very poorly to argue that Jesus is the Son of God. One would think that paragraphs would be included about Jesus than a passing allusion to him!
The argument of lack of historical or archaeological to disprove the Biblical record is a false premise. The absence of historical or archaeological record does not necessary preclude future discoveries. red in the future. Geologists thinks/believes there is/are bodies of water in the earth’s crust. Does this give any credence to the Genesis record? What does the presence of sea life on every mountain top says about the earth’s crust?
Granted that there are elements that Biblical record have difficult reconciling with our present scientific observation, but those difficult does not disprove the Biblical text. Greater research is needed.
SUMMARY: Listen to a debate is better than listen to a monologue.
