Thank you for the question on furthering or earning a second degree in theology, “How are the prospects of taking theology as a second degree?”
The prospect for someone to earn a MA, M’Div, or Ph’d in Bible or theology is readily offered by seminaries to the public.
The critical questions are two fold:
- Why does one want to earn a degree in Bible or theology?
- What is the intended usage of that degree?
I presume that one has pondered or thought about what that degree will do for oneself personally or for one’s ministry.
If one proceeds to earn theological degree, care must be taken in selecting the seminary. Not all seminary are equal since each seminary has a Biblical viewpoint on the Scriptures which may be a conservative or liberal view of the Biblical text. Care must be taken in reading the doctrinal statement and the professors who teaches in that seminary.
SUMMARY: The study of Bible/theology is not an end in itself. It is a mean to grow in one’s understanding of God and His Word in impacting others for Jesus Christ.
