Thank you for the question on serving God, “Is it possible to serve God without the Bible?”
I do not believe that it is possible to serve God without the Bible. Although it may seem that one can serve God without the Bible, the Bible is the revealed will of God to his people. Without that revelation, one would not or may not know what God desires or commands of his people.
A. To believe that one can serve God without the Bible would mean that God is actively revealing his will to humans. God is speaking to each person.
B. To believe that one can serve God without the Bible would mean that every person can receive or perceive the will of God. There is the belief that one has a “spiritual” link to God.
C. To believe that one can serve God without the Bible would mean that every person would correctly understand and apply the expressed will of God. The problem with that viewpoint is that each person’s interpretation or perception of God’s will may be differently from another person. Thus there may be conflicting interpretation of God’s will.
In times past before the Flood, God spoke to individuals like Enoch, Noah and his descendants. The selfishness of humans distorted the revealed will of God and they imposed their will over God’s. Man elevate himself as being the representative of God or as being or becoming God. Throughout human history, man has distorted the will of God. In my opinion, man has a tendency to assert his/her own opinion as God’s will. It is only with a revealed written will of God that his people can objectively state that is the will of God.
SUMMARY: In my opinion, it is not possible that man can serve God without the Bible because man will distort the expressed will of God to man if left to his own interpretation and application of it.
