Thank you for the question on the names in the Bible and the Quran, “Why do names of most prominent people in the Bible similar to names in the Qur’an? Yusuf and Joseph, Ibrahim and Abraham, Musa and Moses, Ayub and job, Nuhu and Noah, etc. Are the people the same?

The names in the Bible and the names in the Quran are referring to the same narrative account except that the pronunciation is different. Coming from an Asian descent, Asians pronunciation will be different from the English sounding of it or from an Arab descent. The tones or spelling may be different, but the account is the same.

The Old Testament was written in mostly Hebrew and later translated into Greek. Some of the New Testament books were written in Hebrew, Aramaic or in Greek. Later it was translated into Latin and from there into the various languages. The translator depending on the letters and vowels in that language would give their best pronunciation or spelling of it. It may phonetically or literally translated.

SUMMARY: Pronunciation and spellings may vary with each language group but the reference is the same.
