Thank you for the question on belief, “What can you say to the statement, “If it is not in the Bible, don’t believe it”?
That statement is false. The Bible is a recorded divine revelation of the will of God to his people. Since the recorded divine revelation relates primarily to his people, there are other countries, people, cultures or observations of man that are not mentioned in the Bible. Solomon’s observation or references of the natural world is only the beginning of the natural world.
Psalm 19 says this, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (NIV).
God declares that the Universe has more to reveal to man that man has observed from the past. Cosmologist and geologist have noted wonderful things in our universe and in our world. With our modern technology, man has been able to ascertain knowledge of the universe even though they are verbally silent.
